MINIX

MINIX 3 is a new open-source operating system designed to be highly reliable, flexible, and secure. It is based on the microkernel architecture so a driver crash will not cause system rebooting.

MINIX 3 is suitable for the following areas:

• High reliable applications.
• SoC, small memory footprint, and low-power processor.
• Mobile systems (cameras, cell phones, PDA).

MyrmecoX Studio Enterprise includes VMware Image of MINIX 3.1 as a default installation. Developers can launch MINIX directly under the VMware. So a source code edited on Windows can be shared, compiled, and tested in the MINIX OS. Furthermore developers can do simulation communication between Windows and MINIX.
